What software is included in the installation package for 5.6 and 5.7

Victor Lee February 20, 2015

We are currently running Confluence version 5.5.2. We are planning to upgrade our current version to one of three choices: 5.5.7, 5.6.6, and 5.7. We have no issues with upgrading to 5.5.7 but are concerned about the other two versions because we have certain components that are not compatible with 5.6.6 and 5.7. Currently we are using Apache Tomcat version 6.0.39 which is not compatible with 5.7. Would Tomcat 7.0 be included in the installation for 5.6 and 5.7?

Thank you,

Victor

Hi Victor,

Tomcat 7.0.52 is included within the installation of Confluence 5.6.6. and 5.7, and is still supported by the Apache Foundation. Tomcat 6.0.39 is already at its End-of-Life support from the Apache Foundation and Tomcat 8.0 is under active development and testing.

I note you have stated that you have components that are not compatible with Confluence 5.6.6. or 5.7, but I do not know what this means. If you are asking about Plugins or Add-ons, chances are that many of these will continue to work, but I would advise Raising a Request with Support to discuss these issues.

Sincerely,

Thank for the information. When I was referring to other components, one of them is our version of PostgreSQL. We are running version 9.0.3 which we know is not compatible with Confluence 5.7. Another question I have is whether or not I can directly upgrade to Confluence 5.7 from my current version 5.5.2? Thank you, Victor
