Apologies for a basic question, but I don't know where to start.
I have a customer who has asked me to export some documentation from my application into a format that they can then import into their (server) Confluence.
I have flexibility around what I technical format I generate to do that (eg MD, HTML, XML, JSON...), but I'm struggling to find the correct format/syntax I need to create in order for it to be imported.
Could somebody point me to the correct URL please?
HI,
It is not completely clear what you are trying to achieve but perhaps this can help.
https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/export-content-to-word-pdf-html-and-xml-139475.html
Also note that spaces can be imported from the general administration section, look for Backup & Restore. Spaces can be exported from the space tools section in the bottom left corner.
If I recall only XML exports can be imported.
Thanks Christo.
I have a completely external application - not Confluence! - which generates documentation. My customer wants to take this documentation and import it into their internal Confluence without having to re-type it in again.
From your reply, I think what I need to do is mirror the Confluence XML format so that the customer can import it again.
If so, do you know whether that XML format is formally documented anywhere? If it is not, then I guess I need to create some test data in Confluence, exporting it to XML and then try to reverse-engineer / guess how it is put together?

Is this the correct link perhaps?

That looks right.
We've got the same thing going on with a WordPress export right now. While Confluence Server only accepts the XML import, there is a multiformat import plugin for Cloud. In my case we do have access to a Cloud instance so we're using that to import HTML files and then exporting the resulting Confluence space to XML.
Glad you're able to work on exporting to an XML format that Confluence will accept. Seems like a good opportunity for someone to make a Server plugin that accepts HTML/Word/etc.
