Which fonts are available and how to implement google fonts?

Deleted user December 18, 2019

Hey guys,

I have two questions:

  • Which font faces are available in confluence by default? Anything apart from Times New Roman, Arial and Helvetica? I could not find a list
  • Is there any way to implement a Google Font via CSS without an additional plugin? (or even with a plugin, if yes, which)?

Thanks in advance!

Best regards,

Stefanie

Hi Stefanie

Did you manage to use any Google fonts at the end ?

If yes, can you please explain how ?

Thanks

By default Confluence does not give you the option of changing font face. This is an intentional thing as Confluence is meant to be a documentation repository and typically you want to have a standard look for all you documentation. Thus there is no option in the toolbar to change font or font size.

If you really did want to use a different font you could do this somewhat easily, and free, with a user macro to change the font of the text inside the body of the macro.

Hmm what I actually meant was to change the default font for the whole documentation (space), I did not mean to use different fonts on one page or so!

What did the trick for me was to adjust the Space Stylesheet and use the same code in the body tag as the confluence documentation uses for their font face:

font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, "Segoe UI""Roboto""Oxygen""Ubuntu""Fira Sans""Droid Sans""Helvetica Neue"sans-serif;

Exactly! If you want to do it space wide or system wide you would use the space stylesheet or global stylesheet, respectively.

Yes, but now this brings me back to the original question:

  • How do I know which font faces are available for confluence? If I try to add a google font in the stylesheet, for example Roboto, it is not working. Arial, Helvetica, Times New Roman are working. This -apple-system BlinkMacSystemFont is working. Where do I find an overview of available options to choose from?

Most probably are not available. However, you can add the link elements in the "At end of the HEAD" box on the Confleunce Administration -> Custom HTML page. Then you will be able to use the CSS declarations in the space/global stylesheets.
