Why confluence space deletion is taking too much time ?

Hi All,

We have triggered a space deletion ((21 GB Space XML size) from UI and and it already taken more than 24hr but only 39% completed as of now.

We are also monitoring the attachment size in backend and found that attachment size reduced from 23.5GB to 12 MB that means already all attachment is deleted.

We can see in database still 1900 pages are left  and the remaining time is showing 21hr.

Can anyone elaborate if we trigger larger space deletion how it works in backend , i mean first confluence delete attachment followed by Pages from UI and database ? 

How we can speed up the process because we are looking to re-import the same space quickly?

Your any recommendation will be appreciated.

Never face this issue myself. I have deleted deleted spaces from small to spaces that had content written and many attachments. All of them usually deletes within an hour or so. I'm wondering if your system health is ok. I had no issue on a bare metal or on openstack.

Probably check the confluence logs for more info.

I am assuming your confluence navigation is quick and rest of the system is running fairly quick. If not, check your system health like memory and processor.
