Why is it now impossible to edit text that has a comment without the comment popping up in the way?

For about the last week, it's been impossible to touch any text that has a comment without the comment popping up and remaining in the way no matter what.

A week ago:

• click the commented text
• read the comment
• click the [X] to close the comment
• Click anywhere within that commented text to edit the text

Now:

• click the commented text
• read the comment
• click the [X] to close the comment
• click within the commented text to edit
• Comment pops back up, covering part of the text I was trying to edit
• click the [X] to close the comment
• click within the commented text to edit
• Comment pops back up, covering part of the text I was trying to edit
• ...and so on

It's been made impossible to interact with the text without the comment popping up and getting in the way.

Anybody know if there's a way around this new behavior? It's making it impossible to edit without resolving the comment.

EDIT: If this is the way it's going to be now (terrible idea), at least make the comment overly MOVEABLE so I can edit the text it's connected to!

EDIT 2: It's also now apparently impossible to page through comments while in Edit mode. You have to exit to Read Only before you can page through all the comments.

EDIT 3: And apparently the new Comments don't save what you type so you can no longer be typing a response, accidentally click away, then come back and resume your reply. I just lost about 80 words in a comment reply because of an errant click. Now I have to start all over.

This update is really ticking me off.
