Why is the Flagged field empty on Confluence (Insert JIRA Issue/Filter)?

Hugo Emond December 18, 2020

Hi,

I inserted a JIRA Issue/Filter on a Confluence Cloud page, displaying A few fields including 'Flagged' but this one shows empty.

I ran the query in Jira and used the 'Display in Jira' button to validate and it shows up in Jira.

Am I missing a Configuration?

I was able to confirm some odd behavior in our Jira/Confluence instances too. When using JQL...

flagged is not empty

...in a macro in Confluence, and displaying the Flagged field in the results, sometimes a value shows for the Flagged field and sometimes nothing shows. I'm guessing the "nothing" is a zero-length string (which in a database is not the same as a null value).

So I can see how this COULD happen. But for a boolean field like Flagged, it SHOULD not behave this way.

I briefly scanned Atlassian bug reports related to Jira, Confluence and the Flagged field, and didn't really see anything.

Note: if the Confluence macro does list an issue for the above query, then that issue really is flagged (as far as Jira is concerned). So the problem isn't that the wrong issues are being displayed in Confluence, it's just that the Flagged field is sometimes showing nothing when it should show something.

I think this is worthy of reporting as a bug. If you can create "Steps to Reproduce" the problem, and maybe add a few screenshots (particularly of the macro results), that would make a great bug report:
