Thanks for your reply to my very open question. I already found all nacessary information for resetting my confluence installation. I btw. didn't want to open a question for that, but didn't find a way to undo that step & delete the opened question...
I had an issue during the installation process to "reset the database content" (sorry, didn't make notes about the name of that wizard step). I tried with confluence installer for windows 64-bit version 5.6.6 (to import old 4.3.x content) and 5.9.4 (imported will fail) - the setup step didn't continue to wipe the database content, I had to manually drop all tables. The installation afterwards worked fine.
