FYI: I am a cloud user

Okay, so it does work in Firefox, but my company uses Chrome, should we file a bug?  I need this to work in Chrome, it worked in Chrome right up until the latest update.

In Chrome, Go to the end of table (easiest is to go to first line below the actual table and hit the left arrow).  You know you are there, because the cursor will change to the size of the table!  Then hit Shift--UpArrow.  Everything in the table will be selected.  Ctrl-C to copy and then paste it where you want.

Two possible solutions:

  • Try different browsers. There are differences in how Chrome and Firefox work with tables in Confluence
  • Install the free source editor plugin. Then you can edit the page source, and copy the XHTML for the table. Then you can paste it into the source view of the destination page.

Hi Corinna,

In this page, you'll see how to work with tables depending on your Confluence version smile

Another one already asked the same thing, the answer could probably help you too smile https://answers.atlassian.com/questions/28601

Best regards, Damien.

Mucked around with this for ages... if you create a new blank table in the target document, copy the table from the source document and paste into the table it seems to work (chrome)

It's important to properly select the entire table first. Otherwise the copy-paste operation won't work as expected.

The very top-left corner is used to select the whole table, when editing a Confluence page:

Another possible point of confusion is that Ctrl-C might not be a copy operation for some people. I use Cmd-C on my MacBook Pro. Keys can also be remapped.

So to be sure, you can use your browser menus for "Edit > Copy" and "Edit > Paste" for those operations (to avoid using the keyboard).

Also, be sure to put your cursor where you want the table copy to be inserted. If you don't do this, the new table copy just replaces the existing (selected) table, and doesn't appear to do anything.

I just tested all of this, with empty table and with tables that have content, in our Confluence Cloud instance. It's all working fine for me.

You can also use Microsoft Edge to select and paste a table!
