This often means the user directory you are connected to is not working or not reachable.

Have a look in <confluence home>/log - there should be a file called something like atlassian-confluence.log , which should contain "<someone> tried to log in, does not have use access, cannot read from directory <x>"

Hi Rob,

If a Java update or database connection were causing problems I would not expect to see the error in the screen shot.

As a direct answer to your question, you may view the database connection URL in the confluence.cfg.xml file in the root of the data directory but I do not think the login screen would appear if that setting is off.

To investigate the login failure, please check the error entries in the log at <Confluence_Home>/logs/atlassian-confluence.log. One thing to search for is the user name who tried to log in. Anything with ERROR is also of interest.

I look forward to hearing what you find.

Thanks,

Ann
