Hello Atlassian Community,

I’m trying to create a page template with an embedded database structure, but the solutions I’ve found are impractical:

  1. Page templates don’t support the /database macro.
  2. Copying a “Copy Me” page (with “Include child” checked) has an issue:
    1. The page content and database are copied as expected.
    2. However, the embedded database view still points to the original database, requiring manual linking: copy the new database link and update the embedded view.
  3. Adding an 'Automation' that creates a database for the newly created page won't have the desired database structure.

Is there a better way to achieve this, or is this a missing feature in Confluence?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Wouter Depamelaere

This is currently a missing feature.

That hinder the creation of reusable database-based templates. Specifically, the /database macro is not supported in page templates, and embedded database views cannot be automatically re-linked.

These limitations make it challenging to develop templates that can be easily replicated and updated.

Hope this helps - Happy to help further!!
Thank you very much and have a great one!
Warm regards
