Hi community
We have upgraded confluence from 4.x to 5.1. Now, the noformat macro is not workling anymore. The macro is not listed in the macro browser, the editor displays "Unknow macro: noformat"
Any ideas how to fix this? Which add-on does the noformat macro belong to?
Thanks for your help!
Lukas
Hallo Lukas
The noformat macro is one of the modules in the "Basic Macros" plugin. The plugin is shipped with Confluence. Perhaps the plugin or module was disabled for some reason during the upgrade. I've seen that happen before, with no known explanation. To find it, go to "Manage Add-ons" in the admin console, and choose "System" from the dropdown menu. That will show you all the system plugins. Find the "Basic Macros" plugin, and click it to open the details panel. Then choose the link that says "xx of 13 modules enabled", to see the modules. If the noformat module is disabled, you can enable it here. On our site, all 13 modules are enabled.
Cheers, Sarah
Sarah, thanks for your help.
It seems that the "Confluence Basic Macros" Plugin did not get installed since it does not seem to be compatible with confluence 5.1 (See https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/confluence.macros.basic )
As you are Atlassian Employee, I might ask you to raise this issue internally: How can it be that a bundled system plugin is not compatible with the latest release?
Thanks for your Help!

Hallo Lukas
Thanks for pointing that out! I've raised an issue here: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-28833
I'll bring it to the attention of our quality assurance and product management teams, for further comment.
Cheers
Sarah

Hallo again Lukas
Our QA team has responded to the issue I raised. It seems that the problem is, after all, specific to your Confluence installation. Please would you raise a support ticket at http://support.atlassian.com, and the support team can help diagnose and fix the issue.
Here's more detail from the QA engineer: The basic macros plugin is bundled successfully with Confluence 5.1 When a new major version is released, there is no easy way to update the Atlassian Marketplace - it's a manual process, and is sometimes forgotten. We are aware of this problem, and looking for an automated solution.
I hope this helps to clarify the situation. Good luck with restoring the Basic Macros plugin and the noformat macro. :)
Cheers, Sarah
