public - but restricted - acces to wiki spaces

seams a but strange question in advance maybe, but let me explain.

we have our documentation of our application written in confluence wiki spaces.

Discussion here is that we don't like to open all the content unrestricted / publicly, but we like to open it for e.g. users of our application. So if you are a user of our application (or can access documenation via our application) you can open documentation.

now only created users (mostly admins) can enter documentation, but thats a little bit to restricted.

Earlier it was possible to add user credentials via the URL (query parameters). Collegues told me this was not possible anymore.

Has anymore have experience with situation above. And can you point us in the right direction what are possibilities to tackle this?

You create group of your application users and add to confluence permissions so only those users can view the confluence.

thanx for your reply. I'm trying to understand your suggestion. But I guess this still means I have to create users in confluence?

I'm looking for a solution in which I don't have to create users (we have thousands of users) but the documentation is not directly public available.
