the latest Confluence update causes table display errors in the old version (old editor)

Alexey Safonov August 26, 2021

Dear community,
please help me to bring this information to the support service. Recently there were some changes in Confluence that affect the display of information in tables in the old version of Confluence (old editor).

The indent from the left edge in the very FIRST column of any table has disappeared

Thank you in advance.

I have the same issue, but also my table no longer respects the fixed widths I set. It looks perfectly fine when editing but not after publishing. See here: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Confluence-Cloud-questions/Responsive-table-with-Legacy-editor-is-now-screen-wide/qaq-p/1787452#U1794267

I'm guessing these two issues are probably connected? I don't want to convert to the new editor because all of my tables were designed with the old editor's font size in mind.

Hello Alexey,

Hope this message finds you well!

I tried creating a new table in the Legacy (old) editor and checking the indent option in the toolbar, on a Confluence Cloud page.

I went to the first column on the page and on the left, but it is possible to indent the table.

That being said, could you confirm if the issue would be for the Confluence Cloud version or to a Server version?

In case you are referring to the Cloud, could you share more details on how actually it is on your side and how it is on your page?
Any images with the steps or even a quick video could help us understand better!

Looking forward to your reply,

Kindest Regards,
Jessica

Hello Jessica,

I've been using Cloud for 10 years. Most of my pages are created in the old version of the editor (now you have the new version and the new page templates look different and the functionality is different).
A few days ago I noticed that the display of all my previously created pages has changed: the display of information in the tables has changed. Now they look like this (left indentation in the very first column of each table has disappeared):

When I edit the page in the editor, I see this (there is indentation):

Hi Alexey,

Thank you so much for the additional details and for bringing it to our attention.

I have tried in edit mode, but for some reason, I have not published it before, so I didn't notice the behavior earlier. My apologies for not seeing that.

With the images, you have shared and after publishing the page and doing some other additional tests, I could confirm the behavior you have shared with us.

In Edit mode, it looks normal, as it did previously, but upon published it no longer has the left indentation as mentioned.
I tried a few workarounds, but none of them worked, except for aligning the text to the center.

I have created the following bug report for our development team awareness:

I have added this post as a reference internally, but feel free to add yourself as a watcher of the bug report page, so you will get all the updates for the same, and also, feel free to share any feedback or comments there as well!

If there is anything else we can help with, let us know!

Kindest Regards,
Jessica
