Read Only Users Permissions

I Do Not want to give anonymous access to my site. However, I want to create a user who can come in and read articles but not edit or create anything.

It's not clear how to acheive that.

You can do this by creating a group, for this exam, call the group ACL_Confluence_ClientAccess_Something

From there, you will grant global "can use" permissions then add said group space level permissions to only "View" (Screen shot below).

The users within the group will only have read-only access to the granted spaces.

It sounds like this is a Confluence question.  Assuming this is correct, there are two things you'll need to do.  First is you go into the global permissions and grant "Can Use" permission to the user(s.) This allows them to log in to Confluence. Next is to grant access to Space(s) that you want them to have access to. You will need to change the space permissions on the Space(s) desired and give the user "View" access. By doing this, they can only read pages. If you don't want the user to see all content in the Space(s,) You can use page restrictions to give access only to employees or something along those lines.  For example, you could create a page in the root of the space called "Private," move all content that shouldn't be public as descendants of that page and assign a page restriction to the Private page that does not include the "public" user.
