Remove unused space label

I have a space label, not used in any space, still appearing in the Space Directory > Categories panel. If I select the unused space label, no space is listed.

How can this be?

This is an interesting one, normally, if you remove all spaces from a category, the category will no longer appear in the Space Directory.
