Restored database to new server and now cannot log in

Graeme Hartley September 1, 2017

I have a new server instance of Confluence (6.3.3) and have created a backup of the database and home directory as per documentation. After I restored the database and enter my administrator user name and password the log-in dialog says:

The following error(s) occurred:

Sorry, an  error occured trying to log you in. Please try again.

I cannot log in even if I try again. Any ideas how to solve this?

Sounds like either your id was not in the old user database with that password, or there is a fault in the user directory.  Read the log to see what is happening when you try to log in.

That's what it was. The local user name was different to my user name that was used to connect Confluence via JIRA (which of course will not work anymore because the IP for the new server is different from the old one)
