Hi, we want to do decommissioning on our system and we have related knowledge base on confluence. How to remove all content related to that system ? Is there a possibility to archive somehow this data ?
If you think you might need to use this later - with all includes links, files, or other complex elements - it’s always a good idea to create a backup. Just make sure to name it properly and store it in a safe place, so you know what’s inside and when it was created.
(If you are also using Jira I would definately create a ticket for that, or keep that info in Confluence). But do not use this backup on production - especially after a few months/years ;)
You can also export the space content to a PDF. I used this approach when I knew we wouldn’t need to revisit it, but it could still be useful for customers or reference.
(Example: https://psc-software.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SCHED/pages/211746818/Downloads )
However, when using PDF exports, double-check that the content is exported correctly - some macros don’t support PDF exports, so certain data might be missing.
And of course, we’ve already mentioned archiving options! 😊

This might be a good time to create a data retention policy! ;)
If the information you want to archive is captured in a single space (or in a few spaces), you can archive the whole space. (It also works on Data Center.)
If it is not a whole space, but a family of pages, you can also archive those, but please clarify.

@Milosz Andrzejak
Can you let me know what system you are talking about and version. Are you talking about Confluence cloud or DC?
I really want to help but need so more context here.
