SAML 2.0

James Fahrny August 20, 2020

Hello,

We started testing with an AWS Confluence Quickstart guide to install and configure Confluence Data Center.  We only have 8 users right now so I purchased the license for 10 users for now since the Eval license was expiring.  Confluence seemed to take the license fine but I am unable to find the SSO/SAML configuration menu to enable this and configure for AWS SSO.  IS this available in "Server"?  If yes, there must be something else required since the menu for Security and Users does not have this.  Please let me know.  In addition, Is there a QuickStart guide for building the stacks needed on AWS for a DC single node (no node cluster) or the Confluence Server solution?

Thank,

Hi James,

The native SAML connector is limited to the Data Center version of Confluence (it is available in single-node Data Center in addition to clustered).

For Confluence Server, you would need to make use of one of the multiple SAML plugins for Confluence available on Atlassian Marketplace.

While we don't currently provide QuickStarts for Confluence Server, you could go with one of these options for a single instance setup:

  • Using the Data Center QuickStart and setting the minimum and maximum nodes to 1
  • Starting with the Confluence Server docker image and adding the rest of the infrastructure in AWS without

I hope that answers the questions you've raised, and happy to help if you've got more!

Cheers,
