See who granted someone access to a space

Hi Community,

I'm trying to find out which user has granted a user access to a space and looking in the admin audit log doesn't help me with this.

Searching in the admin audit log doesn't give me the entries for the user.

Hi Eilif,

As Ramin preiously mentioned, the Confluence audit log should show you which admin added a user into a space. See the entry example below.

You are right @Johnny Tu, it does show it. Think I was blinded by the search function not returning any results which make it difficult to locate the information.

If I search for a user that I see in "Item affected" then that entry doesn't show up. So in your case searching for "Sarah Connor" wouldn't give you that entry.

I found a way to get the result by exporting the audit log and import it into Excel and search for what I was looking for.

My example is this:

Entry where space permissions for a user was changed

Searching for "Chat Notifications"

@Eilif Johannsen If this is the user you are concerned about, I just wanted to mention that Chat Notifications is a user account for an app used in your Confluence instance.

For example, in my space, I have users named Chat Notifications, Scroll Viewport for Confluence Cloud, and Microsoft Teams for Confluence Cloud.

@Barbara Szczesniak It isn't the exact user, that was just an example.

I tried with multiple real users where I don't get a result.

Hi Eilif,

I'm surprised, because in my Confluence audit log the assignment of space permissions is displayed. How did you approach this?

HI @Eilif Johannsen

Confluence Cloud doesn't have a feature to directly show who granted a permission. While you can see who the space administrators are, you can't pinpoint the specific person who added a particular user.
