Selected only digest updates, still getting every update

thomas.sola July 15, 2020

Hi,

I've been inundated with emails for every single page modification to the point where my inbox is 99% noise. I went in and set my email prefs to only have the daily update option selected but I'm not getting a single digest email and I am still getting every update.

It should be pretty straight forward but what gives? Did I miss something? (I just quadruple checked and the "Subscribe to daily updates" is the only thing selected.)

Does it take more than 24 hours to update or something?

Thanks

You're a "watcher" of every single page you've created or modified. You may also be a watcher of the entire Space. You'll get updates on every item you "watch".

Good news is that at the very bottom of each of those emails (in tiny font) is a link to "stop watching this" Space/Page. Click there and you should be good.

ah, that makes sense. I figured the email option would override that but you're right. I'm a watcher on several spaces.

Thanks, Alex! Stay safe out there.

P.S. I won't get to test this until a bit later but once I verify it works I'll "accept" your answer. Even though it sounds like that has to be it regardless.

Glad I could help. I've supported 14,000 users on my instance over the last few years, and despite writing an article with the answer, would get this question at least a couple of times a month (usually from irate executives). One of our Spaces had over 7K pages that got modified close to 500 times a day. Imagine watching that!

that sounds painfully massive! I'm sure IT isn't fond of that much activity on the mail servers either.

I'm in UX so I'm not surprised that despite you writing an article on it that people are still going straight to you. Documentation. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. : )

Thanks again!
