Setting up a Global Space (Dashboard view) in Confluence

Jennifer Danehower July 31, 2019

Is there a way to set-up a global space (dashboard view) in Confluence that serves as the main launching page for the rest of the spaces within a single enterprise instance?  I have found the diagram under the "Space" Confluence Documentation but not how to create the very top part of the diagram.

How do I create that single global launching page for my company?

Create a new space with a single page in it and called it the "Confluence Landing" space.

Click on the Admin Cog > General Configuaration. There should be a section called Further Configuration to the left. There you can change the Site Homepage to whatever Confluence Landing space you create.

Atlassian Documentation: https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/configuring-the-site-home-page-138140.html

Best Practices....

  1. I used the CSS below to hide comments, likes, the main header, and the sidebar, as I didn't want those things appearing on my landing page
  2. I use the MultiExceprt macros https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/169/multiexcerpt?hosting=cloud&tab=overview to house the content for my landing page on a different page so I can edit different sections without breaking my format. We have a "tools maintenance" section for Confluence and Jira that I update daily from my own status board and it'll reflect on the landing page.

CSS:

/* DO NOT MODIFY THIS CSS STYLESHEET MACRO */
div#main-header, #comments-section, #labels-section, div.page-metadata, div#likes-section, div#children-section.pageSection.children-showing.group, div#children-section.pageSection.children-hidden.group, div.ia-splitter-left
{
display:none;
}
.theme-default .ia-splitter #main, .theme-default .ia-splitter #footer
{
margin-left:0px !important;
}
