SharePoint links and Jira

We have noticed an issue when we use SharePoint links in JIRA and when we put a link in JIRA to a document, it seems to hold the version of that document that was current at the time the link is created. When we update the document properly in SP (check it out, change it, check it back in without changing the name of the file), the newer version of the document is not available from the link in JIRA. How can SharePoint links work with Jira ?
