Sharing documents from Confluence

I have a lot of attachments of word, pdf and jpg files to Confluence which I need to quickly & easily email to individuals who do not have access to my Confluence instance. I know I could download the file, then drag/drop from my downloads folder, but this is 3 steps and I'm hoping for a 1 step solution. Ideas?

Stephanie provided a great fix for the short term, using the Share Attachments add-on: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.keinoby.confluence.plugins.share-attachments

It sounds like Atlassian is working on upgrading features regarding attachments in Confluence, however if you're like me and needed a solution immediately, the Share Attachments add-on is a good holdover. The add-on is basic and doesn't yet integrate with Atlassian's attachments macro, though I've requested this as an upgrade.

Hi Alice!

There is no quick and easy way to do that at the moment. You can try some workarounds though, but as I don't know exactly what your use case is, I am not sure they'll work out for you. You could grant anoymous access to the space where your attachments are located (you can refer to the question here: https://answers.atlassian.com/questions/95242/how-to-grant-anonymous-access-only-to-a-single-page-in-confluence), and then anonymous users would be able to download these files directly from Confluence, so you would only have to share a link with them. I'd agree that this is some heavy upstream work though.

The user wants to be able to have some type of integrated email client that would allow for documents to be emailed right through their instance, correct?

That would be great, yes. Most importantly - being able to share an attachment without having to download it to your computer first. Something as simple as copy/paste or drag/drop from your instance in to an e-mail. An integrated e-mail client could work well.

I would love to see a list of plugins you have already used in order to try to acheive your goal, or have you researched and nothing was aval?

Also are you using Ondemand or Hosted instance?

The only plugin that I've tried that comes close to achieving this is the Share Attachments plugin by Keinoby.

It's a good plugin, however my users still really want the ability to drag/drop attachments in to their e-mail messages as it's the simplest option, and what they're used to.

I'm using a hosted instance.

Share Attachments allows users to send the attachment public link through email with just a click. In addition, the next releases will allow to configure the email template.

I am testing the Share attachment plugin and I don't manage to get the "share via Email" to work fine. Can you point me to any documentation where I can find instructions how to set this up correctly, please? I cannot find anything on your site (it's possible that I am blind). Thanks!

I am not sure it is the same issue they are having. (where http://partnership.birdlife.org/is our Confluence).

When I click on the Get Link I get http://partnership.birdlife.org/rest/shareattachment/1.0/attachment/YVM840890f271cc4b02bfd5f44e4b73564fIUS/Forrester%20&%20Huddle%20Webinar.ics

The attachement bits seems the same, is the mailto? that doesn't seem to work.

I guess I have some wrong configuration in the mailing system, as I assume this should open up my default email (outlook or gmail...). But I would need some help in figuring out what...
