Hi everyone,
I’m using Simple Table for Confluence and recently started experimenting with the grouping feature. Everything works fine — the rows group correctly by category — but I’ve noticed that some aggregation values (like sum or average) don’t appear in the grouped view, even though they’re enabled in the column settings.
For example, I’ve grouped by “Project” and selected “Sum” for the “Budget” column, but no total shows up under the group header. Other columns (like “Count”) seem to work fine.
Is there something I might be missing in the configuration? Do aggregations only work with certain data types or view modes?
Thanks in advance!
Verify again that "Sum" is enabled for the particular column and that the column configuration has numeric as the data type.
Make sure that every row in the "Budget" column is entirely numeric; eliminate any formatting, extraneous text, or currency symbols.
Good point. I can confirm that the numeric type is usually the key.
I’d just add that in Simple Table, the column type sometimes defaults to “Text” if the table was imported from CSV or JSON, even when the values are numeric. That’s why the aggregations don’t show up right away.
A quick trick: you can re-save the column as Number, then re-apply the grouping. The totals usually appear instantly after that.
Hope this helps others who run into the same thing!
Thanks!
