Steps to upgrade Confluence to the latest version

Currently I have the Confluence Version on 

• Confluence 5.2.3

Need to understand the steps to upgrade confluence to the latest recommended version.

Will there be a mandatory step to upgrade to an intermediate version and then to the latest version?

Can we do the upgrade on own or do we have to involve our implementation partner Amrut Software?

 I recommend reviewing the Atlassian documentation and best practices:

• Upgrading Confluence (the easiest is to use the installer method)
• Confluence Upgrade Matrix 

Upgrade and Relese notes from version 5.3 to the latest, so you know what changes have been made in the application and what has changed in the server part:

• Confluence Release Notes 

Confluene Supported platforms (OS specification):

• Supported Platforms for Confluence 7.11 

You can handle the upgrade yourself. I recommend upgrading to the test environment first.

• Create a staging environment for upgrading Confluence
