Table of Contents in Confluence Live page does not properly indent, in line with the header text styles formatting in the body copy.

Hi @Adam Kent welcome to Atlassian community.

Please be informed, Table of Contents (TOC) macro is designed to automatically indent based on the hierarchy of the heading styles used on your page. If it's not doing so, it almost always points to how the headings themselves are applied in the page editor.

Few reasons for incorrect TOC indentation:

  • Incorrect heading styles applied
  • Skipping heading levels:
  • Hidden formatting from Copy-Paste

How to fix!

  • Please verify your heading styles: In the editor toolbar, check the "Paragraph styles" dropdown (it usually shows "Normal text," "Heading 1," "Heading 2," etc.). >> ensure that the correct heading style is actually selected.
  • Clear formatting and re-apply the correct Heading style from the "Paragraph styles" dropdown.
  • Check Table of Contents Macro Configuration: Please ensure there are no settings (like "Minimum heading level" or "Maximum heading level") that are unintentionally filtering out your headings, which could affect the perceived indentation. Generally, the default settings work best for standard hierarchical display.

Thank you for the useful information. I have carefully checked all of my formatting, and it is not indenting properly per the header hierarchy. This is on the new "Live" page type - I suspect it may be a bug. Thanks
