Tabs that won't load all the content at once

Jiri Kral July 1, 2020

Hi all,

I was wondering whether there is some solution for my use case.

I would like to create a landing page with tabs. Each tab would include one page. I know of several solutions like Navitabs or Spectrum formatting macros.

However, I am trying to create tabs for roughly 30 included pages. And as you can imagine, that takes forever to load. In my case, about 15 seconds.

I am looking for a solution that would just load pages as you clicked on them. One by one. Not all pages at once. Is there any solution like that? It's absolutely fine if it's a paid plugin.

Hello Jiri, I think some of the macros of content formatting macros for confluence and templates might help
- Horizontal Navigation
- Tabs

Hey @Sachin , thank you for the tip! I've finally got around to testing it and I am not sure how to make it work, actually.

I have created two identical pages. Each has 30 tabs, each containing exactly one included page.

The only difference is that in one page, I have the "Lazy Loading" enabled, in the other, it's disabled. The lazy loading says that the loading of tabbed content gets triggered only when the tab is activated.

However, both of my pages are loading exactly the same time, whether the Lazy Loading is on or off.

Any tips about what I might be missing or what could be the solution?

Thanks,

Jiri

When you sayd you got around to testing, do you mean you are using the plugin I suggested above? or do you have your own way of doing this?

I used the exact plugin you suggested. We've installed it to our Confluence and I tested whether it improved the loading times. Which it did not, unfortunately :/

It should though. The functionality of Lazy Loading is, according to its description, exactly the thing I was looking for. So either they advertise something that is not actually there, or I am missing something. I hope for the latter.
