There are multiple parts that go into collaborative editing. Without knowing what the error in the log is it will be difficult to troubleshoot. With that said, we will some sort of log output to see what the actual error is. Here is the documentation for Working with Confluence Logs.
Another option is to review the log analyzer and report back the output. Follow these steps to get to the log analyzer:

Once you have a lot output we will be able to find what the cause of the issue is.
