Trying to call an API from a Confluence table cell

Hello. I am trying to call an API from a Confluence table cell and populate the cell based on the API return value. What would be the steps to do something like this?

You can use HTML macro to embed a script in your cell. 

Keep in mind that on a server instance you can use html macro provided as builtin feature, on a cloud instance you can use https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1212279/html-macro-for-confluence-cloud?tab=overview&hosting=cloud
