Unable to perform partial search (even with use of wildcard)

Hi folks,

As per my research, I see Confluence doesn't support partial search.

However, I have a use case, where I have no results returned.

Example of exact match search:

Example of partial search of the string that has special characters:

Example of partial search using a wildcard:

Do you have any ideas suggestions?

Thank you in advance!

Hello @Max Sudik !

As I understand, the behavior of searches with the usage of wildcards do not behave as expected.

Since I was able to reliably replicate the behavior you described, I went on to check if bug reports about this existed.

I was able to find this that was raised pretty recently:

The usage of wildcards seems to be ignored and the search looks for exact words, which in turn returns no results after the search.

For example, search for setTimeou* will actually look after the exact match for setTimeou, and nothing else.

Currently, the best course of action would be to vote and watch the report. Voting for it helps with the visibility and watching it will keep you up to date with everything there.

I hope this clarifies why this behavior is present. Let us hear from you!
