Hello!
We are currently running Confluence Data Center 7.19.30 and need to upgrade to version 9.2.8. Can we upgrade directly, or do we need to first move to an intermediate version in the 8.x line?
Also, how should we handle plugins during the upgrade? Should they be updated before or after upgrading Confluence? If we upgrade without updating the plugins and then reinstall them afterward, will pages that depend on those plugins still work properly?
I’d appreciate your guidance. Thanks in advance!
Hello @Sd Conf
Welcome to the Atlassian community.
Have you reviewed the Upgrade Guide for v9.2?
https://confluence.atlassian.com/conf92/upgrading-confluence-1477577460.html
According to that you can upgrade directly from if you are on 7.2.x or newer.
With regard to the apps I recommend that you review each of your apps to ensure that they actually provide a data center version compatible with Confluence v9.2. Check if the versions of the apps you currently have are compatible with Confluence v9.2. If they are not, check if there is a newer version of the app that is compatible with both v7.19.30 and v9.2, and upgrade to that version before the Confluence upgrade.
If there is no mutually compatible version, contact the app vendor for advice.
And of course try all of this in a test environment first.
No warranties, express or implied, come with my recommendation, which is why you should always test upgrades with a test environment first.
