Upgrading Confluence from 6.15.19 mysql57 to 7.4 mysql80

Gary Lipscomb May 21, 2020

Just planning the upgrade
From what I can ascertain I would need to upgrade Confluence first then upgrade the database.

Looking at https://confluence.atlassian.com/conf615/supported-platforms-967338803.html it appears mysql80 is not supported for confluence 6.15.10

OS: RHEL7

Would this be the correct task sequence
upgrade confluence 6.15.10 --> 7.4   then
upgrade mysql from 5.7 to 8.0

thanks
Gary

Hi @Gary Lipscomb

To be safe do the following:

  1. Upgrade mysql first to 5.7
  2. Upgrade Confluence to 7.x
  3. Lastly, upgrade mysql to 8

The reason for the extra step is mysql 5.7 is the common version between both Confluence versions and should reduce unexpected surprises.

Regards.
