Upload sphinx docs

Our users would like to see the documentation on the website. Without docs, the users find hard to use software and packages. We use sphinx to generate our docs. The docs are essentially a set of html pages, CSS and JS files and attachments. Essentially - all static content which typically could be hosted on https://readthedocs.org/.

We have made several attempts to import this content onto confluence. Here's some examples:

1. Tried sphinx-confluence-publisher module in pypi - This does not work due to lack of support of many tags. The library seems to be in its infancy and would work for simple text docs - but with more sophisticated docs which have math equations or attachments etc - it fails to work.

2. Upload HTML content - Too many pages and No way to upload all contents

3. Use HTML Macro - We could use sphinx to create a single html for the docs. However, there are still CSS/JS and attachments separate. The total size is 33MB. The number of lines in the single html file is about 73K. Browser times out when copy pasting it to the Macro.

I see that the Cloud  instance gives us 250 GB of storage. We are currently utilizing 250 MB. We need some place to put together just 33MB of information. Currently we are paying for around ~400 users every month and the community is growing. To sustain the growth, solving this is important. So I would appreciate if anyone could recommend a solution to this (of course considering security within the Confluence cloud while dealing with HTML/CSS content). We have been trying to find a way for last 6 months and online search has not yielded any solution.

Thank you for contacting us! I see you've asked this same question to our support team, so I thought I'd share their response here in case it helps other users.

As you can see from our Import Content into Confluence documentation, you can currently only import either Word documents or contents from another Confluence instance on Confluence Cloud.

We verified in our Jira portal and we have a feature request that suggests this to be changed on future releases of the application:

• CONFCLOUD-1072: HTML import into Confluence

We've been tracking the request but haven't decided on a course of action just yet. This is usually because we want to hear feedback from other customers to investigate further.

 We added an internal comment on the request to make sure our product managers get your feedback and take it into account.
 Feel free to add any comments there, so the product team can be aware of your need for this functionality and also give your vote to the feature in order to receive all future updates related to it.

 As an alternative, I would suggest you to contact any of our Atlassian Partners, since they can provide custom solutions for our products.

Do let us know if you have come up with a solution on your own that you'd like to share in case others have the same requirement.
