User mentions not working in a template?

I'm creating a new page template, but when I type '@' to invoke the user mentions auto-complete, nothing pops up.  I'm 100% certain that this used to work, and I even have pre-existing templates that I've created that have user mentions on them.  BTW, when I'm just creating or editing a page (non-template), the '@' works correctly.

Please advise.

We have a feature request below to allow mentions in templates:

• CONFCLOUD-38204 Allow @mentions in template variables

Please vote on it and watch in order to be updated of any changes!

Hi Shannon,

Thanks for following up.  The issue I've reported is not related to template variables.  When I'm editing a normal page and type '@', the user widget pops up for me to select a user.  When I edit a template, I expect the same behavior, but currently it doesn't do that.  However, I know this has worked within the last 6 months at least, because I have existing templates that have user mentions on them.

The word 'variables' threw me off as well, but I researched instances of this occurring in our support queue, and 100% of them link to this same bug. So I would say it applies to your issue.

I've added an internal comment as well to make sure the developers are aware it's happening anytime while editing a template.

Doug - my apologies, but I am also going to raise a separate ticket linking to the original ticket, stating that all mentions are not possible in templates. Hope we can get a bit more views on that one.
