Hi,
I added some users in the group confluence-users. Then, I tried to add them as watchers to a page by using the Manage Watchers functionality. Unfortunately, the new users are not found when I search for them.
The space permissions allow confluence-users to View and Comment. I have other users in the same group, and I cand find them in Manage Watchers.
Maybe some of you can advice...
Thanks,
Evelin
Hi Daniel, I got around the re-indexing. I tried this morning, and could add the users to the watchers list.
Spontaneous remission, or does Confluence run some automatic re-indexing?
Cheers, Evelin
Evelin,
Confluence performs an incremental index every minute. Very occasinally the task will not run as expected and the index will be put in a state that will not recover from. Flushing and recreating this index will removed that corruption as your index is rebuilt from data in the database.
Does this more accurately address your question?

Thanks Daniel, our problem is resolved, and the information about the indexing is very welcome. We are new to Confluence and collect all information we can.

Evelin,
It sounds like you may want to reindex your Confluence from scratch. We have the following document that outlines how to perform this process.

The is likely some corruption in your index that is not allowing an incremental index to be kicked off. Removing and rebuilding the folder will remove this corruption and should allow users to show up in the watcher dialog going forward.

that because the auto-complete makes a call to a rest end point, while the search popup goes through a web action to submit & return data.
The auto complete searches the content table (via the index) for the user
This is probably what the watchers is doing as well.

Can you find the usres if you search for them in the space permissions (adding them as individuals)

Not in AutoComplete, only if I click Search and type them in.

Hi Evelin
They would have to log in at least once (or you can log in for them) before you'll be able to add them to the watch lists

Thanks Jakub, I guessed so, but one of them has already logged in but is still not available. Maybe a second try will help :)
Hmm, I did another test, and it's not the login. I have other users who never logged in but are available in Manage Watchers.
