Using Atlassian Access without an identity provider

Looking at the documentation it seems to be possible, to use Atlassian Access without an identity provider.

The question is how the authentication of a user is done in this case.

Let us assume, we have migrated Confluence and Jira into the cloud from a local server instance including all users and groups. So where is the authentication performed, if Atlassian Access is installed without an identity provider?

Hi @Hedbabny_ Hans-Jürgen,

It is correct that you "CAN" install Atlassian Access without connecting it to an identity provider.  However, what you are able to do is extremely limited and probably not worth the cost that you would incur.

If you have no plans to use an identity provider you will be relaying on Atlassian ID for access to your Cloud products in which case the need for Access is probably not there.

Let us assume we have the same URL for Confluence and Jira. So, what happens, if the user selects this common URL? Does then follow up the navigation to the selected product Confluence or Jira? Does the authentication consider optionally different passwords for Confluence and Jira?

So let us further assume, we have a user with access to Confluence and Jira. Does Atlassian Access then maintain a different context for the access of this user to Confluence and Jira, e. g. different passwords?
