We have hosted 6.10 confluence but now its stop working. We want to upgrade it to 6.15.2 but installer not working after ruining the file.
Hello Aldrich,
Thank you for providing the steps you took to start the upgrade along with the screenshot of the start of the attempted upgrade. The screenshot doesn’t really display an error or issue, so we will cover a range of what the issue could be.
Firstly, your download of the Confluence 6.15.2 installer could be corrupt and need to be deleted and downloaded again. Please attempt this first to rule out an issue with the installer itself.
Secondly, ensure the permissions of your Confluence home folder and application folder and configured correctly (they should allow your user/admin to access during the upgrade). The folders in question may be found within the following: Confluence Home and other important directories.
Lastly, if none of the above are an issue and the installer is still running into a problem then we need to see the system logs during the install attempt. For Debian systems, you may find the syslog at /var/log/syslog. You may tail the log while the install is going by using the following:
Tail -f /var/log/syslog
Once we have some further error messages we should be able to start finding the cause of the install issues.
As far as your 6.10 instance no longer running. Could you provide further information as this may also assist with the issues on your 6.15.2 upgrade problems? If your Confluence instance is starting then stopping, using high CPU or just crashing randomly you may want to review the following as this issue may be related to a recent security exploit within the product: Confluence CVEs and common questions
We look forward to your response to help find the cause of your 6.15.2 upgrade issues.
Regards,
Stephen Sifers
