What can be the reason, that "[" don't collapse/expand the left navigation?

I'm using Confluence 6.6.6 with MS-Internet-Explorer 11 or Chrome-Browser on a Windows 7 Desktop.

While english-keyboard-language is active, the "[" will collapse/expand the left Navigation. This works on IE11 and Chrome.

But the "[" don't work to collapse/expand left Navigation, when using german-keyboard-language.

What can be the reason for this behavior?

PS: same behavior with Confluence 6.13.2 (our Testenvironment)

Hello there! Thanks for sharing with us Armin.

I have tested this locally and can confirm that the issue happens even on macOS Mojave 10.14.

Looking at the German layout, the [ key becomes ü. This affects the behaviour of shortcuts due to the fact that the system itself registers the key as another.

Since the shortcut was bind to [, pressing what is ü does not have the same effect. With this in mind, you could try:

1. Temporarily switch to the U.S. International layout
2. Use the alt+5 key combination to activate the [ symbol

In the German layout, to use [, we must press the alt key and also the number 5 key. I have tested this in Chrome in macOS and the key combination works.
