What is the best way to add users to Confluence without having to invite them?

Rich Lewis June 26, 2018

We are finding it difficult to launch Confluence as a Knowledgebase to our customers, because of the convoluted registration Atlassian offers.  I was looking at G Suite and Google Apps discussions, which appear to provide possible solutions.   I have a couple questions related to using G Suite, plus I'm interested in finding any other suggestions:

  1. When you create users and sync with G suite, are users logging in from Google or can they still use the Atlassian Login once imported?  If was thinking of providing a link to a Confluence URL and was hoping they would be able to login without going through Google.
  2. When you import users via G Suite; can I force the password reset upon syncing?
  3. What are the differences between G Suite and Google Apps for signing in?
  4. I looked at the Salesforce connector for the Cloud.  It seems to mostly be for data, but can this be used to import or connect Users?
  5. What other options are there for creating/importing Users into Confluence without inviting them to register? - we do not want to allow "Anonymous Users".

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Rich,

If you do not want to allow anonymous users, then you can select option 1 or 2.
