**When previewing** a .pdf or .ppt preview -search inside the doc? Default to preview view?

When a user is previewing a .pdf or .ppt on a confluence page, can they do something along the lines of ctrl-f, the way they could if they were actually viewing the word doc or pdf in a native application?

I know Confluence can index content inside the attachments as part of its general search functionality.  What I'm trying to figure out is whether a user previewing a multi-page pdf or ppt could quickly jump to a specific piece of text inside of the document as they were previewing it.

On a related note, is there a way to have a confluence page whose only content is an embedded document (e.g., a .pdf) default to preview mode?  Or do I always need to go to a page with a thumbnail and then click the thumbnail?

Hi @Adam Neaman,

I am afraid the answer is No. You cannot perform ctrl/cmd + F while previewing a PDF in Confluence. But, you can open the PDF in a different window and perform the search (you must be knowing this already).

And yes, as you rightly said, Confluence content indexing filters/searches the respective document, but unfortunately, you cannot open/ jump to the specific section you intend to.

Again, even if there were a page with only a pdf/ppt attachment, the only way to view the content is by navigating to the page and clicking the thumbnail. There is no way you can default to preview mode.
