Whiteboard - copy link to object does not work

On a Confluence whiteboard, I select an object like a text box, right click, and select “copy link to object”. I then get the error “Could not copy link. Please select the whiteboard and try again”.

I’ve tried closing my browser, rebooting the computer, using a private browser window. I am on a Mac, I had a colleague with a windows computer try and he got the same error.

Have you tried again, because there was a small incident on the platform, anyway you can always check on the status page that I leave here

I just now tried again and got the same error. I restarted my machine and browser. 

This is still an issue.

I tried this again on two different browsers:

macOS 15.7 - Safari 26.0.1 (latest) - it does not work, I get the error "Could not copy link. Please select the whiteboard and try again"

macOS 15.7 - Chrome 141.0.7390.55 (arm64) (latest) - it works fine.

This looks like a Safari compatibility issue.
