Why Confluence Search results doesn't redirect to the specific place on the page with the result?

So the problem is, Confluence search doesn't redirect to the specific place on the page with the search results.

For example, if I have the word "White" on the "Page1" which is at the very bottom of the page, clicking on the search result will redirect me to the top of the page. As a result, I'll have to provide a manual search on the page to find the specific word.

This becomes really annoying with the use of expandable text, where the search result is placed, as all of them are rolled up for default.

Also, how do you perform a search of a word or text, if the search result is displayed multiple times on the page? Is there a way to render results from 1 single page as separated search results, but not just 1 single link to the page with results?

Thank you.

Hi Max,

Welcome to Atlassian Community. It's nice to meet you.

Thank you for all the feedback regarding Confluence search. These are all great ideas, but not currently something you can do within Confluence.

I've found and then created a few feature requests, which I will share below. If you're interested, please vote on them so you can be updated on their availability in the future:

  • CONFCLOUD-59867 Ability to jump to exact line referenced in search results
  • CONFCLOUD-27077 Option to display expand macro expanded/collapsed on page load
  • CONFCLOUD-70444 Include number of multiple occurrences of term found on a page in search results

In the meantime, you may find there's a 3rd party add-on that can enhance your search within Confluence. Keep in mind that this would no longer make your Cloud site free, as many of these are paid add-ons.

Thank you, and take care.

Shannon
