Why can't I link from another Atlassian site to my confluence documentation?

I am trying to add an Atlassian URL as a Link to my confluence page and it won't let me insert it.

Dear @Rick Collins,

you have to connect both Confluence with an Application Link, first. Then confluence links should work. Instead you can use web links as suggested by Jonathan. The disadvantage is, that this links will not automatically change when the location of the confluence page has been modified.
