Widget Connector seems to break SSL, doesn't work with weather feeds?

We have been trying to use the Widget Connector macro to present Twitter feeds to our users. The problem is that it appears to be written such that it insists on using http rather than https even if you tell it explicitly to use SSL, so every time you load our Confluence front page with the Twitter feeds on it, browsers complain of mixed secure/insecure content. This looks unprofessional and we'd like a way to fix it.

We've also been trying to use the Widget Connector to present a weather feed, thus far with no luck as it doesn't seem to support anything we've tried. Is there a Right Way™ to do this?

I think Twitter switched to https by default after the Widget Connector was written. It might be in need of an update. If you want us to confirm this and look into workarounds, raise a support request.

Alternatively, you can log an issue against the plugin directly.

For the weather feed, the Widget Connector may be the wrong tool - it only works with a predefined set of external sites. If all you need to do is embed an RSS Feed into a page, then try using the RSS Feed macro.
