We currently run Confluence 4.2 on an MSSQL 2008 Server. We are migrating to MSSQL 2014 - are there any known issues running that version of Confluence on that database server?

It's not supported, but I can't see any specific issues with it.  I wouldn't do it, simply because of the unsupported aspect.  If you want to use MS-SQL 2014, upgrade Confluence to a supported version.
