confluence session timeout error.png
I am suddenly getting session expired errors after running without them for a few months. I've not changed my system settings or my browser (Chrome). The error is announced when I click Save after having edited a page for "a while" - it doesn't happen if I save immediately. The thing is that I'm not sitting idle, but typing away like mad. I've adjusted the time out in xml config file, but that didn't help of course. The page I'm working on saves successfully if I click Save again. This is pretty annoying and liable to dismay users as I am about to go live with a new audience in my on-going proof-of-concept project. So question:
How can the session expire when my session has not been idle? And how do I stop this nonsense?
Simply typing does not extend the timeout. The timeout is based on round trips to the server, while you are typing the timeout is not being reset. One thing that you could do it occasionally hit preview. That will reset the timeout and will also save a draft version as well. It would be cool though if Atlassian set up the editor to send periodic asynchronous calls back to the server to reset the timeout if you are typing.

Although it doesn't explain why I only started experiencing this in the last few days.
