1.will we be able to upgrade the confluence version manually using archive file when we migrate the servers and also switch the db's from MySQL to postgresql
2.i have gone through this link https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/upgrading-confluence-manually-255363437.html and It says that xml backup is not recommended when we upgrade confluence manually using archive file. how to switch the db's from MySQL to postgres without xml backup.
Use XML. It's the easiest way. I would suggest only dumping the content and manually moving the home directory, though. It should be quite a bit faster this way.
I would recommend running the XML dump during a change control, in case it causes Confluence to run out of memory and fall over. It's a pretty intensive operation and if you are already marginal on heap memory, it wouldn't surprise me if it ran out of memory part way through.
Hi Dave,
Thanks for the information. will we be able to upgrade and migrate the confluence instance simultaneously through archive installation.

I would do two steps. I would export the xml and import into a new server with the same version. Once you have done that then upgrade the new server. Trying to do too many things in one step could be problematic.
