e-signature feature not working today

Lelani Mayer September 29, 2025

Yesterday our e-signature feature was still working and today we are getting an error whether visiting a previous page or someone trying to sign where the e-signature was added.

Unable to check item state: e-sign page

There was a problem communicating to the server. Please refresh and try again

After multiple attempts and checking the space setting where it shows it is enabled it is still not working

Hi Lelani,

Thank you your message.  You are correct that eSign for Confluence is currently experiencing an outage due to an API that Atlassian removed prematurely.

Atlassian notified the partners in August that a certain API would be removed in February 2026.  It appears they removed it earlier today (Sept 29, 2025) instead of next year as planned.

We have escalated and are in contact with Atlassian.   Hopefully they can correct this incident soon.

@Chris Cairns - Digital Rose would you happen to have a public bug/announcement which can be followed for this? Just so that the users have something to follow :)

Great question @Dirk Ronsmans.   Yes we do have a statusPage for the Digital Rose eSign apps.   Interested users can view/subscribe for updates here:  Digital Rose Status

Chris

PS.  Latest update is that a patch has been deployed as a temporary workaround until Atlassian re-enables the API that was disabled.

Atlassian should put such outages on their status page.

App vendors endors should be able to unambiguously point to Atlassian for such faults.
