formatting how Attachments display

Q: When there is a long list of documents on one page but they're broken into separate sections with headings, can I separate the table of attachments into sections?

When I do it, they just display in one big table and I'm unable to edit or break the table into sections.

Backstory:

We have just migrated to Cloud, with Refined on top for look and feel.

We are converting all our pages to Refined and updating the attachments to the new editing format so they will open in Refined.

Hi Nicole & Tracy,

We just migrated to ConfluenceCloud (CC) as well.

We are able to 'break up' that giant list of attachments by using the Attachments Macro more than once on a page, then stipulating filename patterns and label filters to help organize what displays in a given list.

You may have to tweak your file naming practices and probably download/edit/re-upload attachments on some pages. I've found the best way to manage cumbersome attachment lists is to make a copy of the page (with attachments), download all attachments, rename to our new practices (forced by this move to CC), then edit the original page with the new uploads.

We haven't tackled version control issues - I made an executive decision to archive all of the older versions and rename the most recent attachments while documenting and enforcing our new naming conventions. Our team is upset about the loss of using thumbnail displays - that is how I found your post.

More than one list, one for the labeled powerpoint, one for .png images:

And to add to the above - I work with Nicole - we used to have thumbnail pictures of the document, and we embedded a link to the attached file.

This made it more visual for the user to click on the picture to access the document. Thats what we need - a better way to display the documents, rather than a really long list of everything.

Hi Les, thanks for taking the time to reply and offer some answers and ideas.

We’ve progressed quite a bit since I posted this and use labels to organise the attachments.

Overall, the confluence cloud experience has been underwhelming for a number of reasons.

It sounds like you’re making great headway though and hope you have a good experience.

thanks Nicole
