how to show embedded pdf file as a URL link - not an image

If I upload a file to the page with new editor format, it shows as a thumbnail, not a URL. I want to show the URL instead. the old page editor allowed me to show an embedded file as a URL link instead. How do I do that on the new page editor?

use the old page editor for many reasons which has more capabilities than the new page editor. the only restriction is the old page editor is not supported by the Confluence mobile app for edit.  You can view all old page editor pages perfectly in Chrome on any mobile device

I think when you disable attachment preview (there is one system plugin), but you should test it can by file type or not.

Or you can add link , not attachment in page content (It's another suggestion)

@[deleted] disabling system plugins works for server and not for cloud.

Neither of these options work - very sad on the quality of the product team for Confluence Cloud - they remove function available in the old page editor and don't provide the equivalent in the new page editor. They've reduced the value of the product considerably again

Hi @jemm1

You can't currently do that unfortunately. There is an open suggestion here https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONFCLOUD-65302 which you can vote and watch

However, the workaround you can do is this:

  • Upload your pdf on a file list
  • After uploading it, copy its link
  • Go to your page and use the /link macro to add this link to your page

Let me know if that helps.

If you use the old page editor everything works fine for links, attachments, tables, plugins and more

the only problem with the old page editor is the Confluence mobile app no longer supports it
